Di Dove Sei?

I can now confidently ask and answer six questions in the local tongue. This means that the people will understand what i want to know. It doesnt mean that what im saying is proper or would be said that way by a single Florentine. What im saying is that i can walk into a pharmacy and when a worker asks me what i would like i can say "How much does it cost, Gilette Razor?". This will get me what i want as long as long as i have the required currency but im pretty sure i could formulate a better english sentence than that by second grade.

Class was surprisingly enjoyable. Apparently 9 am is extremely early in this country so i will have some days where my earliest class will get pushed back. Trips have also been pre planned to a number of gardens i had wanted to visit and several towns i would love to photograph. Apparently theres this one place, Rome, which i ve heard is a pretty big deal.

I heard a solution to the worlds problems today that i must admit sounded pretty damn good.... PASSION.
if that doesn't ring a bell it should. I believe The Beatles were onto a similar idea with their song "All We Need Is Love". My professor brought up a good point in suggesting that approaching one's work with passion rather than disinterest could yield much more pleasant results. Sounds a bit Utopian but i believe passion at any level would be a step in the right direction.

It means "where are you from?".... Sono Americano, di Westfield, MA.

Class?

So i have class tomorrow? I forgot that was part of the deal. I am excited however to learn how to converse with the locals in a way that will be less embarrassing than speaking spanish and pointing. Class in Palazzo Rucellai should be a good test of patience as well. Not only will i be fighting off the ADD coming off of summer but i will also have to ignore the beautiful city outside. Instead i will try to interpret the italian english of my professors and not get distracted by the original frescoes on the walls and ceilings. This is going to go quite well.

Kebabs

Any day you can start out by saving 20 euro is usually a pretty good day. if you can follow that with a jog to an amphitheater, then its usually a great day. An afternoon siesta might even take things to a whole new level. When youre having this kind of day, anything else is just gravy.

At this point im looking forward to another italian dinner, bottle of vino, and miles of trekking through the city. Then again, the bar scene does sound very appealing.

Mesopotamia Kebabs are a good idea too.

The Italian National Sport: Women!

According to Chief Detective (fill in the blank), the Italian national sport is no longer futbol but women and is more likely to reward you with a face like this than one of Pleasure. Women are actually told to avoid eye contact with men and act aggressively assertive in making their disinterest understood. When things go south tactics such as making ones way into more public spaces and smiling when being robbed are said to be quite effective. I guess trafficking drugs is also probably not a good idea here as you might win the grand prize of 23 years in jail for sharing even the smallest jib.

Oh,

Airplanes are awesome. Departure is nuts. All of a sudden WHOMMPPPPPPPPPPPPPP and you re 40,000 feet high. At that height it doesnt matter if its blizzarding or torrentially downpouring because all of that is a world below you and the blue skies. Then when youre not expecting it you look out your window and the lights of London are in your face. TWO window seats son! if you have to fly you best get a window seat just dont hit your face on the inside layer of glass like a jackass. Coming down can be good too when elderly asian women nearby dont expect it.

It is sweltering hot here. every window in the place is open and i cant type a sentence without having to re apply deodorant. Cant lie though, everything besides the temperature has fallen into place perfectly. I didnt lose any bags in my flight and now live in the midst of more history than i would have ever imagined.

Time is pretty much irrelevant by now. im about to see my second sun down after my second sunrise today. i probably should have brought a watch because i have had no idea what time is all day. i got off the plane in frankfurt around midnight according to EST which then translated to six am somehow. Layover was just fine and i guess it was morning when we got here. so 28 hours later im about to eat dinner again and everything just seems surreal.

Firenze!

describing this place is a waste of time. everything is beautiful.

Ciao!

Yeah, i know.. i spelt my own name wrong.. how dumb am i? Or maybe i was inferring that this website had something to do with my daily thoughts. Take it for whatever you wish.

Now that we got that out of the way, Ciao! This blog will break down a number of different topics which i feel like sharing with others. These topics could include anything from vortex footballs to italian basketball teams. There will undoubtedly be a description of my upcoming travels through Europe and the events that coincide. Basically be ready for anything.

For now, however, i have to get back to packing.
